Abingdon Air & Country Show 2010 - Fly-In

Fly-In

Tiger Moth A big part of the Abingdon Air & Country Show is a fly-in of various types of aircraft ranging from microlights to ex-military jets. Parked close to the crowd, there aren't many events where you'll be able to see such a variety of aircraft at such close quarters. In the past we have had up to 80 aircraft on the ground, not including those taking part in the flying display.

If you'd like to fly in to Abingdon you'll be made most welcome! For PPR, please get in contact with Neil Porter on 07756 258892 or via email.

In both cases, you must leave your name, address, email address, aircraft type and civil registration to be considered. If no answer on the telephone, please leave a voicemail.

You will need Crown Indemnity Insurance to £5 million as Abingdon is still an MoD site, however there is no landing fee. Having said that we would appreciate a donation to the show's funds - we're supporting the local air ambulance, a worthwhile cause we're sure you'll agree!

Abingdon More detailed airfield information will be posted to pilots before the show. The main 18/36 hard runway is 1798m in length (reduced length due to road entrance at Southerly end and surface breakup at both ends). A grass runway (also 18/36) of approximately 450m in length will be available too, which will be located west of the northern end of the hard runway. The hard cross runway 08/26 will be used for aircraft parking and therefore will not be available for arrivals or departures.

Airfield map A basic airfield map is shown here to the right. Arrivals are between 09:00 and 13:15 local. Earliest departures are at 16:55 local - there will be no movements between 13:15 and 16:55 local due to the flying display. If you wish to arrive on Saturday or leave on Monday, this is possible (arrival between 11:00 - 17:00 local Saturday, departure by 16:00 local Monday) - we have High Tech Security on site but you will have to arrange your own accommodation. You can camp on the airfield, but there are no facilities of any kind apart from toilets.

Heavier types will be parked on the cross runway with the display aircraft, with light aircraft to be parked below the cross runway. Helicopters will be parked as pre-briefed. All aircraft will be marshalled to your parking spot.

We will once again have an Air/Ground radio facility - the frequency will be given to pilots by email or post once we have received our allocation from the CAA.
